Where do you work?
I work for InterVarsity Christian Fellowship, a college ministry. For many years I worked on college and university campuses in Northern Jersey and now I work in New York state.
Describe what you do.
We are on campuses because God loves every person, but many students do not know about His love. We exist to help students explore that love through Bible study and be changed by it.
Why did you choose your ministry? What led you to that ministry?
I went to Urbana in 1984 and gave God full trust to make my life count for Him. I went on a short-term mission’s trip for 2 months in Europe and was exposed to 10 different ministries. After that, I read two missionary biographies, Through Gates of Splendor, the story of Jim Elliott's life, and Bruchko, the story of Bruce Olson's life. I prayed Isaiah 6 every day, "Here I am, send me. And when I volunteered for a Bible and Life weekend with InterVarsity, a staff person said there was a job opening and I should apply. The rest is history.
When did you make the decision to serve in missions - how old were you?
I was 20 at Urbana '84.
Why did you decide on serving in this way? Why missions?
I was simply asked after a season of prayer if I wanted my life to count for eternity. Urbana missionary speakers then testified to what God has done through them when they yielded their lives to Him.
Have you had other occupations?
I worked in a doctor's office the first year out of college and helped lead the College and Career group at Hawthorne Gospel Church. I have been with InterVarsity ever since after that year--36 years!
Hobbies or other interests?
I love reading, watching movies, biking, cross-country skiing, and coffee with friends.
Your favorite sport? Favorite team?
I love the Eagles!
