Where do you work?

Guatemala with travel to parts of Africa.

What will you be doing?

Serving disabled kids and their families. We will work on an IDEAS team to help train local caregivers to work with disabled individuals to help bring people from isolation into hope and restore dignity. We will also work with the wider ATCatalyst team in other regions of the world, connecting resources and providing training in key locations with Christian partners who are trusted in their communities.

Why did you choose your ministry? What led you to that ministry?

We believe that a critical part of the gospel taught by Jesus includes caring for the sick, including those who have disabilities that limit their participation in their community. We are excited to share the love of Christ with these individuals as we care for their physical needs and build relationships with them and their communities, helping to open doors for all to become active members of community life.

When did you make the decision to serve in missions - how old were you?

Lauren grew up overseas to parents who were working in cross cultural ministry, and always knew she wanted to go back overseas as an adult. Sheldon decided he wanted to work overseas with his professional skills to share the love of Christ with underserved people groups when he was in college.

Why did you decide on serving in this way? Why missions?

We love to travel, we feel called to serve individuals with low resources and poor access to healthcare, and we believe that we, as a part of the Church, are called to share Gospel of Jesus Christ in areas and to people less reached.

Have you had other occupations?  What are they?

Sheldon has his Masters in Public health and Lauren is a Nurse. Both have had experience and training in the US prior to moving overseas to use these skills specifically serving overlooked peoples and sharing the gospel in word and deed.

Do you have any hobbies or other interests?

Running, exercise, art, reading, travel, spending time with our kids.

Do you have a favorite sport? Favorite team?

Giants Football, Manchester City Soccer
