Where do you work?

My ministry area is the United Kingdom and Ireland.

Describe what you do.

I work with an organization called Converge International Ministries leading the UK & Ireland Initiative. I coordinate with ministry leaders on both sides of the Atlantic to connect people and resources to help start new churches, revitalize struggling churches, train the next generation of leaders, and reach out to least reached people groups coming to the UK and Ireland from around the world.

Why did you choose your ministry? What led you to that ministry?

I never expected to end up serving in ministry in the UK and Ireland. The Lord captured my heart for this part of the world when my church in Wisconsin gave me a sabbatical, part of which we spent in southwest England. In a small fishing village, I warmed myself in what was once a Methodist chapel that had been converted into a café and art studio. My eye caught an old banner tucked away, hidden in the corner of the balcony which read, “The Hope of England.”  My immediate thought was, “Jesus is still the hope of England,” but the light of that hope was missing from so many faces in so many places here. That started something in our hearts and doors opened in such a way that we knew it was time to step away from ministry and what we knew in the US and come to the UK which then opened doors to Ireland as well.

When did you make the decision to serve in missions - how old were you?

My call to ministry came in my senior year of high school while I was attending a mission’s conference at my church in Bloomfield, NJ. I thought for certain that I would end up in engineering or the military, but the Lord had other plans and redirected my life that autumn. In light of the Great Commission, I just remember telling the Lord that I would go wherever he wanted me to go and do whatever he wanted me to do.

Why did you decide on serving in this way? Why missions?

“Missions exists because worship doesn’t.” -John Piper. The glory of God among the nations is what drives missions and motivates me. The UK & Ireland (and Western Europe in general) are becoming increasingly the dark spot on the map when it comes to gospel ministry. Millions live their lives in communities having no gospel-centered church, having never heard the gospel message, and not personally knowing a single follower of Christ. I am motivated by seeing God glorified in the nations of the UK and Ireland.

Have you had other occupations?

I have served in various ministry roles over the course of the last 27 years. Before coming to the UK, I was the Lead Pastor of a Church Plant in Wisconsin. Prior to that I served in youth ministry at Hawthorne (2002-2008).  Prior to my current role with Converge, I was the Director of Apprenticeships for a ministry training program in Liverpool.

Hobbies or other interests?

I love the outdoors in general and enjoy hiking, camping, etc. I also love to read, especially history and historical fiction. I also really look forward to watching my three children’s football (soccer) matches.

Your favorite sport? Favorite team?

Since coming to the UK it has definitely become football aka soccer. My favorite team is the Tottenham Hotspurs though Chelsea, Liverpool, Manchester City, and Manchester United all have supporters in our family.
